Life Science Connections:
Program for 7th Grade Science and High School Life Science Teachers
Goal: Over this 18 month program, middle and high school science teachers will learn genetics and cell biology content, design project– based units using innovative technology, and integrate new science and engineering practices (modeling, argumentation, inquiry) into their teaching!
Teachers will work with faculty from USC’s School of Medicine, Center for Science Education, and College of Education to develop project–based units to teach their genetics and cell biology curriculum. Teachers will learn to use portable ultrasound technology as well as gain in–depth life science content knowledge.
Funding: Funded by a grant from the SC Commission on Higher Education and the U.S. Department of Education under the auspices of the Improving Teacher Quality Higher Education Grant Program.
